In 1971, as a student at Shiraz University, Payman solicited submissions from the most celebrated modern writers and poets in Iran and published a series of volumes over two years called, From Poetry to Fiction.

In addition to Iranian authors, they also translated and published authors such as James Joyce, Norman Mailer, E. E. Cummings, Ezra Pound, William Handly, Vladimir Nabokov, and Zbigniew Herbert.
